The reflection of lecturer on journalism workshop: One Step Closer to the World of Journalism

Sunday, 4th December 2016 I and my friends of PBI 2013 got amazing opportunity to attend a workshop titled 'Lecturer on journalism: One Step Closer to the World of Journalism’. The speaker at the event is an expert in the media world in Aceh, her name is Salwa Chaira, S.Pd.i, M.TESOL, M.Pd. She was a newspaper editor of Modus Aceh. There are lots of knowledge about how to write a correct news that I got from the explanation of Miss Salwa at the time. Therefore, the purpose of my post this time is to share a little bit about the things that I got from the workshop.

The speaker explained us that the journalism is the activity of collecting, creating, assessing, and presenting the information or we used to call news. Actually, there are lots of the types of news such as straight, in-depth, features (news story), press release, photojournalism, and advertisement news. The one that I interested in is about features (news story). This type of news is tell us about a human-interest article that concern on particular places, people, and events. It is same like telling a story. That's why I love it!

Next, at the event, the speaker also tell us about five elements of news that we should know. The elements consist of 5 W and 1 H. The 5 W are what, where, when, who, why and 1 H is how. For your information, what above is to tell us about the event, where is tell about the location where the event happen, when refer to the time when the event happen, who is about the who involve of the event, why is tell us about the reasons why it happen, and how is explains about how an event take place.

Personally, I really love the statement of Miss Salwa when she closed the workshop last Sunday. She said that, “Do not worry to be a journalist although you do not graduate from journalistic or communication studies”. And she also told that,” Do not worry to be an editor although you do not graduate from Bahasa Indonesia department or Indonesian literature. Having English competence gives you more credit to be an editor. In other words, the more languages you know, the more credits you get”. So, there is no reasons for do not start writing.

Menjejaki Aceh Lhee Sagoe

Mimbar klasik penuh ukiran berdiri kokoh di atas keramik putih persegi. Ukiran-ukiran kecil bermotif bunga memenuhi dinding mimbar terbuat dari kayu itu, bak riasan inai di jemari pengantin dara baro.

Konstruksinya berwarna cokelat yang diplitur mengkilap. Di dalamnya, tersandar tongkat sepanjang dua hasta yang biasa digunakan para khatib ketika berkhutbah. Dulu, di salah satu sisinya terdapat nama Sultan Mansur Syah, kakek buyut Sultan Iskandar Muda.

“Yang membedakannya dengan sekarang cuma warnanya saja, kalau dulu warnanya itu ada tiga macam yaitu hijau, kuning dan merah,” tutur Darmawan memulai ceritanya soal sejarah Masjid Indrapurwa di Lamguron, Kecamatan Peukan Bada, Aceh Besar itu pada Selasa (29/02/16).

Menurut sejarah yang didengar dari orangtuanya, sekitar 1 mil dari masjid itu, dulu berdiri Benteng Indra Purwa di sebelah Barat Pulau Tuan. Ketika direbut oleh Islam, di sekeliling benteng dibangun kuta (sebutan untuk benteng-benteng kecil) yaitu Kuta Keuboek, Kuta Puntoeng, Kuta Muqaddim dan Kuta Madat. Akibat abrasi, benteng terpaksa dipindahkan ke selatan pulau yang dekat dengan daratan.

“Setelah hancur lagi, akhirnya kali ketiga dipindahkan ke daratan yang sekarang di bangun masjid di atasnya,” ujar pria yang mengaku mengalir darah keturunan Sultan Mansur Syah itu.

Aceh pada masa sebelum dikuasai Islam, dulunya ada tiga titik kerajaan Hindu di Aceh. Selain Idra Purwa, dua Indra lain tersebar di titi kberbeda, Indra Patra dan Indra Puri.

Benteng Indra Patra terletak di Pantai Desa Ladong, Kecamatan Masjid Raya, Aceh Besar. Bangunan berarsitektur Hindu ini masih berdiri tegap menghadap laut,tak roboh oleh tsunami 2004. Di dalamnya ada dua stupa kecil berbentuk kubah. Selain itu, disana juga terdapat sumur yang pernah dipakai untuk prosesi penyucian diri umat Hindu.

Kerajaan Indra Puri mempunyai sejarah yang hampir sama dengan Indra Purwa. Pada masa Sultan Iskandar Muda, di area seluas 33.875 meter ini juga dibangun masjid. Bangunan suci umat Islam ini terletak di poros jalan Banda Aceh-Medan, Desa Pasar Indrapuri, Kecamatan Indrapuri, Aceh Besar dan didirikan usai ketiga Kerajaan Hindu tersebut ditaklukkan oleh Islam. Di bawah pondasinya, ada tiga Pura Hindu yang diruntuhkan.

Nuansa Hindu bercampur Islam cukup kental terlihat dari arsitektur masjid tersebut. Ismawardi (48), juru kunci merangkap bilal di Masjid Tuha Indrapuri itu mengatakan masjid itu pernah direnovasi dari bentuk dasar pada akhir 1990 dan rampung pada 1994. Namun nilai-nilai Hindu masih tersusupi di antara ornamen dan gaya konstruksinya. “Dulu atapnya terbuat dari daun rumbia, setelah direnovasi diganti dengan seng,” imbuhnya.

Pakar sejarah Aceh, Dr. Husaini Ibrahim, melihat, cikal bakal Kerajaan Aceh Lhee Sagoe erat kaitannya dengan kerajaan Hindu itu. Menurutnya, ketika masa pemerintahan Sultan Iskandar Muda (1607-1636), sang sultan memiliki sistem pemerintahan yang membagi Kerajaan Aceh ke dalam tiga daerah, yaitu daerah inti, takluk dan asal. Bersamaan dengan itu juga, benteng bekas kerajaan Hindu yang termasuk dalam wilayah inti dilakukan proses islamisasi untuk dibangun masjid di atasnya.
